Residents of California, the self-fashioned “resistance” state that has sued the Trump administration more than 50 times, has donated more money to the Trump 2020 campaign than to most Democratic candidates in the 2020 race.

Donald Trump raised $3.2m in California since the beginning of this year, according to campaign finance data analyzed by CalMatters, a not-for-profit news organization focused on California issues.

Trump beat out everybody in the field except for Senator Kamala Harris, who raised $7.5m, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who raised $5.1m. Harris, who is California’s junior senator, has been leading in donations from the state since launching her campaign in January.

Trump bested even the former vice-president Joe Biden, the frontrunner in the Democratic primary, and Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, who have strong support throughout the state.

Although affluent donors in Beverly Hills, Orange county and San Diego contributed significant sums – and together constituted a majority of California funds in Trump’s campaign war chest – 92.8% of donations came from small donors contributing less than $100. Many of these small donations came from the central region of the state, which tends to skew more conservative.

I'm holding my fire then I'm sending Trump some $ . The few bucks I sent him the last time has been paid back to me about 10,000 times (1 million percent)

I was talking to a guy back in Florida about how it feels to be in California; I feel that I am part of the "resistance" who doesn't like the state taxing me to death, dislikes the foreign poor invasion from Mexico and the bums who are just ever present.

Does anyone ever think it through? To have money to spend, your income in CA is taxed about 9.3% first; when you buy something with that money you pay another 9% sales tax so that's 18% to the state of California.

The property taxes, gasoline taxes, capital gains taxes, special tax on real estate capital gains, etc. all add up.

On top of it all, the females are generally 1. nastier 2. fatter than in Florida by far.

But, the views are superior and the drives are beautiful.

Apples and Oranges. Because there is only one Democrat Party and one Republican Party. So collectively, they are still giving way more to the Democrats than to Trump.

That won't last long. First, Trump has been the putative nominee for years. (Technically, he declared his run in early 2017 for legal reasons — yes, just after inauguration.) Second, title of democratic nominee is up for gabs; nobody really knows where that roulette ball is going to stop. Finally, there are a half dozen serious campaigners that split up the donation dollars.

The democrats should put their "debates" on Pay-Per-View and collect money that way. I thought the 2nd day of the first round debate entertaining.
