Looks like Xi Jinping is calling "CHECK" in the 17D chess trade war Trump decided to start.

Soybean farmers aren't happy.

Maybe Trump really just isn't that smart.

Trump is standing up to $500B in trade deficits (which are directly related to budget deficits) and $300 in IP Theft.

Something Clinton enabled, and Bush and Obama also.

Soybeans are a commodity, and not even 1% of GDP, including that consumed domestically or exported elsewhere than China. Worry about electronics, cars, steel.

Yep, all is lost. The soybean farmers aren't happy. He should be impeached.

BTW aren't we all supposed to be dead by now anyways. The NK missiles, World War 3, Global warming and the wet bulb, EMT attacks, Russians hacking the grid, etc.

China's symbolic gesture is insignificant. They have the dollars to drive prices down for awhile until the FED intervenes and decides to prop up soybean prices again which will bankrupt a few rich chinamen and all will be forgotten and life goes on. MAGA

Those same trade deficits that are facilitating the sale of the best income producing assets of the USA to foreign interests. All for garages full of plastic junk and political party contributions.

Directly from Trump/Rep/Con SOCIALIST Govt. (Yes,Republicans are still taxing me)
Total deficit for 2017,Republicans in charge for all but 20 days in 2017, -375,227,500,000.
Must be Clinton's/Obama's fault!

Actually the guilty parties are the Communist lovers buying Communist China imports.

It's overly simplistic, but farmers getting upset about this would be similar to a section 8 housing voucher recipient having it revoked. They did nothing to earn the benefit. Not real sure how they can complain. The problem with farmers is they all have $70,000 trucks they can write off while the government essentially guarantees income on their crops. In most cases, all because mommy and daddy had some land and passed it on to them. And they fucking drain your water supply you CA guys, which cost you more on your water bill. Fuck 'em

I know a lot of farmers. Most are entitled scum bags unfortunately. Some are good of course. I admittedly don't understand trade that well as it's a boring topic to me. But this part of a supposed trade war makes me smile a little bit on the inside.

Fuck China, we have no business depleting our Soil, and resources with Illegal labor to send it all to China.

Fuck the Food Cabal, they aren't entitled to endless Food Profits, there is a cap with consequences.
See South Africa right now.

Can Liberals please quit being tonedeaf, low food prices, and more land to plant domestic crops is always the very best domestic economic policy.
Please don't be in the food production business and bitch about Tarrifs. You'll only get calls for taxing our food before it leaves the port. A double tariff if you will.

I'm sick of fucking hearing about all of the food we export, when I can't find one edible produce in the Grocery store it's all produced in Chile, Mexico and everywhere but here.
Our produce is the best in the world why should China get it all?

Fucking Losers, go get a job and quit being greedy cockbites.

I know there are corporate farms, but the actual miners themselves probably don't get a whole lot when it comes to a subsidy. It goes to the company. That of course is another issue though.

There are still a ton of individual family famers in this country and they don't have to compete at the same level as others. I'm not sure how many individual miners are out there, so not fully understanding the comparison as individual don't generally mine their own mine. If it's because they lean Republican, I could give two shits. Too many people claiming to be on either team are getting way too many hand outs. D or R doesn't matter from my point of view.

I generally don't subscribe to fairness at all as you work for earn what you can, but this situation isn't fair. I understand it's to stabilize crop prices, but outside of military spending, I'm not sure where else the tentacles of the government are tipping the scales out of balance more. It of course will never change and my bitching won't matter. I more or less want people to know and understand that farmers are lazy fucks most of the time.

Our economy would grow double digits in a year if we embargoed Chinese electronics and burned the entire soybean crop.

And yes, TPB is also right - remember how cheap food was BEFORE the MFN with China?

I beg to differ. If soybean farmers wind up making less money on their crop, policies in place will still making them whole, costing the US taxpayer money and China will additionally will be collecting a 25% Tariff. Looks like a win win for China and a loss loss for the US.

Like I said, it was overly simplistic. Obviously there are/were holes in my logic, I don't deny that. I also don't study or research trade in any meaningful way, it's boring. But if China is needing to import soy beans, and is going to charge us a 25% tariff, why wouldn't we just charge 25% more for soy beans?

I get the point that this is what a trade war is about, but as you just mentioned, our farmers will still be able to sell their product and get the same price. If not higher. At some point we'll find out which country "needs" what specific products more. I tend to think we have the edge with our resources, but I could be wrong.

I personally dislike Trump, but why is it okay for another country to dictate what we can do? China likely has the same point of view and I understand this. Fortunately or unfortunately in some people eyes, America has the bigger dick. I expect my tax dollars to fight to keep our nations dick big. Sorry. China can fuck itself.

And yes, I understand global trade and partnerships are necessary for our economy and people to thrive. Just don't understand people's fear of China or a trade war. Not sure when or how so many American's lost their sacks (not you - the general population).

I'm not overly Jingoistic honestly. One of the VERY few things I'm okay with Trump doing, is untucking America's dick from between it's thighs.

Yes, this is exactly it. Putin has advised Trump to hit China with tariffs because their response will be weak and inneficient just like Putin's response to European sanctions has proven to be. I'm not sure what's in it for him, but he definitely did give that advise and Trump definitely followed it. Thanks for uncovering this great conspiracy.

https://www.thebalance.com/u-s-china-trade-deficit-causes-effects-and-solutions-3306277

The U.S. trade deficit with China was $375 billion in 2017. The trade deficit exists because U.S. exports to China were only $130 billion while imports from China were $506 billion.

That 375 BILLION represents a lot of lost jobs in the US.

U.S. manufacturing, as measured by the number of jobs, declined 34 percent between 1998 and 2010.

Of course, the liberal media will only interview places like Boeing and BMW, that export to China, and never an American that lost their factory job due to imports and hasn't worked since.

Said Soy bean farmer goes broke sells his farm to many small farmers(North Dakota has a bill in the works to outlaw corporate Farming).
Win win for me, 69 cent a pound tomatoes again, and the return of 5 ears of corn for $1 return of $3 to $5 lb for some Beef cuts.
Protecting large corporation profits only defends them from small companies competing.

That's right, soybean shouldn't be farmed in the US at all, esp. not large scale. There are many much much healthier long-time native crops and vegetables that should be farmed instead.
