AltLeft Everyday: "Take these kids seriously."

Oh, the old days, when there was only a daily paper and some news channels, and it was easy to create the illusion that something totally nuts was reasonable and you were the only one of a handful aside from a tiny handful of people on some BBS or usenet forum who saw through the BS.

lol. It is amazing that Trump supporters are in such a bubble that they have no idea how these issues are really playing in the country. All they know is how their extreme base reacts.

Here's a little real data:

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/380443-students-leading-gun-violence-protests-seen-more-favorably-than

"A majority of respondents, 56 percent, see the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, who organized Saturday's March for Our Lives, in a positive light, compared to 34 percent who say they have an unfavorable view of them.
By comparison, only 39 percent of voters have a favorable opinion of the NRA, the powerful gun rights lobbying group that has vehemently opposed the student-led protests. Forty-four percent of respondents have a negative view."

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/379939-ap-poll-finds-highest-support-for-gun-control-in-five-years

"Nearly 7 in 10 adults surveyed in the Associated Press–NORC poll are now in favor of stronger gun control laws, the highest measure of support in the five years the AP has asked the question. Overall, 69 percent of those polled favored stricter gun control measures, a large jump from the 55 percent who indicated support in an October 2013 poll."

This is a NOT a winning issue for Republicans. But, by all means, keep mocking high school kids! Keep calling them names!

I'm sure suburban soccer Moms will react favorably to that...

.

Left out of your quote:

Americans view the students who led nationwide protests against gun violence more positively than the National Rifle Association (NRA), according to a survey released Tuesday by the left-leaning firm Public Policy Polling.

It's very dangerous to believe one's own BS from a Push Poll.

Indeed, the long term term trend - aside from asking people just after a tragedy - is that support for banning "assault weapons" is decreasing.

Polling on the issue is clear. In 2012 support for an “assault weapon” ban had slipped almost 30 points, to 49 percent, and in 2014 Pew Research reported that for the first time in two decades most Americans support the right to keep and bear arms over more gun control. A massive majority of Americans – almost 70 percent – say they prefer to live in neighborhoods where people can own guns.

A Suffolk University/USA Today poll in 2015 found that most Americans, by an impressive margin of 52 to 43 percent, did not want gun control to be a factor in the 2016 elections. Hillary Clinton ignored these findings and bashed the NRA and gun-owners every chance she got – which is part of the reason Donald Trump currently resides in the White House.

https://www.fff.org/explore-freedom/article/gun-control-losing-issue-democrats-know

Then we have PA-18, where the blue dog winner-by-a-hair Conor Lamb went out of his way to support Gun Rights and to make clear he didn't support an assault weapons ban. If he had been a Gun Grabber, Lamb certainly would have lost one of the few elections Democrats have won since Trump entered office.

And in all many areas of the country that aren't Urban Heavily Blue districts, Democrats lose, lose, lose, on Gun Control. There isn't a campaign adviser anywhere that recommends Democrats campaign on Gun Control, because its a losing issue for them. From Chuck Schumer to Chris Murphy, Democrat bigwigs are urging candidates to avoid the Gun Control issue like the plague in the Midterms.

November is a long way off. And even CNN can't keep beating the Gun Control drum for 7-8 months straight.

I think one very inexpensive way to bolster the national defense is to have the Federal Government subsidize AR-15 and 5.56mm ammo purchases with a tax credit via some CMP program. And maybe set up ranges in National Guard Armories free of charge with full time coaches.

UPDATE: It wasn't all pork. Some of it is common sense Defense Appropriations.
